Life Eternal

Men killed and died for a sip

To lengthen their trip

to judgment day

And I heard a guy say

I don't want to live forever

In a world where life reeks

I considered to sever

my slow spiral into oblivion

But this man went on to say

life eternal in a perfect world would be boring

I thought I would never get bored of snoring

Sleeping in waking up working out winding down

would bring no frown to me

But then I say that now

Because I haven't seen the world yet

I can't do that because

I can't afford it

I can't afford it because

of minimum wage work was

all I could muster

with my 4 years of junior college

Not for lack of knowledge

but lack of paper

but say you had all that

and more

could afford anything in and out of any store

See everything in the universe for

a thousand years each

Would you stop the reach for

the end knowing you'll never touch it

Nor

Know everything knowable

Hold everything Holdable

See everything seeable

Titter everything teeheeable

NO!

I'd wait all day light

to look at the stars another night

I'd wait all night long

to sing one more song

to the one I love the most

and I'm supposed to

Live

I can feel it in my bones and flesh

eternity with my fraternity

Will never get dull or lifeless

I'm not asking for immortality

I don't want it,

Give me that longevity

so no matter the lack of brevity

will not alter the value of life

Because even if you spent a thousand years

studying everything

from a star to a seedling

there still will be more to see

songs to sing

brushes to stroke

bells to ring

There are things you can't google or bing

You have to be here

I want to be there

I want that life of real peace

Just a piece of it

Just see your self

Just see me too

Where the constant struggle of the many

Won't just profit the few

and they say

you

only live once

and let that justify acting like a dunce

But my heartbeat is still running

Running the race for life

And I'm getting my prize

Even if it kills me

Cold world still won't chill me

But seeing art in science

Stills me

Fills me

Then empties me

For a clean slate

So many people to see

Stories to tell

Art to show

Rhymes to flow

Knowledge to know

Sunsets, Friends, Jokes

Dancing, Painting, Cooking

Hearing, Tasting, Looking

Pause

Soak it in

Life eternal with perfection

No creams or injection

Loved ones' resurrection

Sounds pretty good to me
