Life, Death, Pain, and Love

A Poem

I feel alive amongst a thousand dead corpses.

A majority of them are walking around,

Not paying attention to those around them.

It’s hard to stay alive;

So hard in fact, that dying with them is the only option.

At least, it feels like it is.

Slowly, I allow myself to die.

Then, I see them:

Those who are alive.

I see them, and I feel alive.

I run towards them, feeling more alive than ever.

When I get there, I am embraced with love.

I am engulfed in the most love I had ever felt.

I have the need and want to spread this love.

I prepare myself to leave this “bubble” of love.

I step out, and immediately feel like dying again,

But I keep my head up.

I go from person to person, hoping for a response.

I start to lose hope.

Then, I spot them:

A person about to fully give into the death.

I rush over and rest my hand on their shoulder.

They lift their head up and look me in the eye.

I see the pain they’ve been through,

The pain I know.
