A Poem

He promised me he’d never leave,

Under any circumstance.

He promised that he loved me,

That he’d never stop.

He promised he wanted me,

My heart and soul.

He promised I was special,

That nobody compared to me.

He promised I was the only one,

That he needed me.

He promised that I was beautiful,

The most beautiful girl he’s ever met.

He promised me a future,

Anything I wanted.

He promised me that we’d be together forever,

No matter what.

He promised me no one would change the way he felt about me,

Nobody, no matter who it was.

He promised me that I was lovely,

That I wasn’t so bad after all.

He promised me he’d help me,

That he’d always be there for me.

All those promises he made,

He had his fingers crossed.
