Letters to a Ghost

For What It's Worth

Dear Ghost,

you were so cruel. You're always that way...

and I am the fool that believed in putting forth the effort to make you stay.

I knew your time in my world was fading, I could tell by the dwindling dialogue presented on a plastic surface being melted by the heat of what could have been something beautiful.

Anyhow, Ghost, I wish you the absolute best.

Happy haunting!

Sincerely

Me, the leftovers.

Dear Ghost,

It's me again. You remember, don't you?

I saw you last night, and I know you saw me, too.

I was tempted to speak, but was afraid you would not hear me. I was tempted to touch, but was scared I would feel nothing. Was that a fellow ghost with you? Perhaps someone else you chose to haunt.

Apologies for the back-to-back letters. You probably haven't gotten around to responding because you're busy with ghost things.

Hope this finds you well!

Sincerely,

Me, the optimist.

Dear Ghost,

This is my final message.

I've texted, I've called, and nothing.

Can ghosts do those types of things? I choose to believe they can.

I still see you, and call your name. Maybe you can't speak, but would it kill you to spell out words or flicker a flame? Regardless, I'm taking the hint. I will forever be left wondering what I could've done differently. Maybe I'll never know until I, too, am a ghost.

Goodbye.

Sincerely,

Me, the haunted.
