Leaf

I wish I was a leaf.

I wish I was leaf that was floating free

As it rains and shines and flies like a bee

Erratic in the wind yet gentle on the ground

In a cycle of the seasons it is forever bound

Twisting and curling as it goes from scorching to bitter

Stuck on a branch in the breeze it will flitter

Iridescently green to shining bronze

To be a leaf in a crisp puff of air my heart longs

Or perhaps to have a budding rose sitting beside me

To be glided through the air and landing on the sea

Frigid winter frost grazing upon my skin

Droplets of rain dancing with my kin

Making a chorus, a symphony as we swish and sway

Bright and vibrant in every which way

Living and dying as the seasons come and go

Forever bound to the earths natural flow
