Lavender Lids

Honey Lips

Low lighting with smoke in the air,

Live music filled with emotion,

Small hands running through rust-coloured hair,

Drunk men outside causing a commotion,

Red fingernails stirring red wine,

Short black dress paired with piercing eyes,

You were freezing time,

Whispering your lovely lies,

Every night the same club, different men,

Although I'm here just as often,

It never made much sense,

None of them made you content,

I wanted nothing more,

Then to kiss those honey-covered lips,

To name everything that I adore,

To watch you paint lavender on your lids,

Never seen you with someone like me,

Every other type you've seen,

Terrified I can't compete,

I guess there's just one thing,

you're a lovely woman I will not deny,

The problem is,

So am I
