Last Time I Checked

Queer Poem

When did people decide that “bisexual” was just another way to say:

“Whore,”

“Slut,”

“Just wants attention,”

“Just wants to fuck everyone,”

“Is just confused.” ?

Because last time I checked,

I am not a “whore,”

And I am not a “slut.”

Never have I lied about my love just to get some attention,

Or just so that I could sleep with every single person I come into contact with.

And even if I was a “whore,”

If I was a “slut,”

If I just wanted attention,

If I wanted to sleep with everyone,

Why would that be a problem?

Why would that be your problem?

Why would that be any of your goddamn business?

Last time I checked,

I know how I feel and I know who I love.

Last time I checked,

I am not confused.

I have feelings just like any other human being.

Just like anyone who is straight,

Anyone who is gay,

Anyone who is lesbian,

Or anyone who is anywhere else on the spectrum.

My sexuality does not define me;

I define my sexuality.

Loving both girls, boys, and everybody else does not make me any less human.

Because last time I checked,

“Bisexual” is just another way to say “love.”
