Last Light

You Were But One Light

Now that you are

gone we see

that you were closer to

that edge than we believed.

Now that you had

fallen over you were

bent and broken.

In the end, it

wasn't possible to save you.

Nobody could help you save

yourself, not even you.

We didn't see that you

were waiting for the end to be here.

We may be stuck in the dark,

We may be pushed aside,

We didn't see those times

were your cries for help.

We know you had to let go,

But we sit here wondering

what we could have done

to make you feel less alone.

We sit here knowing you were

too far gone to kill your demons,

your demons.

You were but one light

in a sky of a million stars,

and when it went out

the world ceased to spin.

Through all of the lies

we have heard,

with your mask we

chose to ignore,

you were right there

dying inside, before our

very eyes. We sat there,

not believing the signs.

You were invisible to us,

no matter how much

you tried to say you were

in pain. If we knew

then, maybe you would

still be alive and well today.

It's something we will

never know.

We may be stuck in the dark,

We may be pushed aside,

We didn't see those times

were your cries for help.

We know you had to let go,

But we sit here wondering

what we could have done

to make you feel less alone.

We sit here knowing you were

too far gone to kill your demons,

your demons.

You were but one light

in a sky of a million stars,

and when it went out

the world ceased to spin.

You were that one

last light we weren't

able to prevent going out.

You were the one that

saw the end when the

end was near.

When we finally figured out

what was going through your heart

your life already flickered away,

your memory will never fade,

even when we have all but died,

even when we stopped mourning your death.

We may be stuck in the dark,

We may be pushed aside,

We didn't see those times

were your cries for help.

We know you had to let go,

But we sit here wondering

what we could have done

to make you feel less alone.

We sit here knowing you were

too far gone to kill your demons,

your demons.

You were but one light

in a sky of a million stars,

and when it went out

the world ceased to spin.

You were but one light in a sky of a million stars,

and when it went out the world ceased to spin.
