Lady in Velvet

Can two be together with opened arms?

"Am I your one and only?" I ask him every other night.

He only laughed and came with his prime.

This is a question I was aware could never be set free.

This question is a lock while the answer is the key...

But one thing I know is the key is not me.

I promised I wouldn't do this, that he wouldn't pull me in...

Yet, I've known him so much longer than his wench could ever dream.

His lips are like solace, invading and gnawing my skin.

Leaving love marks and bruises.

His territory of sin.

The wind's purpose is to live and die again.

A constant ebb and flow of wherever it may be led.

Not hearing its howls, its song, or its cries...

He cuts through it all like a knife.

My love for him is much like the wind.

It cannot be contained. It is all around him.

I bend to his will and I release him from return.

He lives far from me and his heart is a beacon of lust to burn.

But, as much as the wind blows... He cannot be contained to what keeps him alive.

I have been his lady of the shadows.

The confidant of desires... If only for once in a great while.

I have been a friend.

Each time, I find the nerve to return... With this foolish heart that he has bewitched upon me.

It is here where my loyalty lies.

I shall never be a disgrace to myself or the man I love.

If I could stand by his side instead, I will never leave it.

It would be my greatest honor.
