Just Trying to Sleep

As I woke up from a deep sleep, Your words start to creep back to me, It must be cheap to do the upkeep,

I wrote these chords and took a leap, silly me, was hoping you'd be here with me, Your rewards I would never keep, my mind was trying to oversleep,

The thought of you still cuts quite deep,

Yes I've tried to count on sheep, Will you discount our love, or take the leap?

My feelings won't end, I can't mend, my heart breaks as it thrashes around the bend,

You tore me apart, left me for dead, Thought you were playing with my head? Called you my friend, was stonewalled instead.

How could you leave me here in this mess? I'm hardly able to get outside my bed.

Turned to you when I didn't even have a clue,

You always seemed to know just what to do.

Now I leave here to try and go back to sleep, I'm guessing I won't hear a single peep,

Your memory is what's haunting me,

I hope one day you learn to see...
