The jewels feared him as they should and they loved him even more

because they knew what was in store.

The book of remembrance was a thick one, but not as thick as it could be.

If only more names could be added so that all could be free.

Decisions have been cast and many lives have been lived in vain,

while others endured the shame;

they finished the race,

thereby diving into cool pools of grace.

Is life somewhat of a dream?

And will we wake up one day and scream

about all those people we could have pleaded with

just a little harder when they scoffed and thought it was all just a myth.
