It Was Only a Dream

A Poem

In the middle of the day

When The sun is at its high

When everyone is at the pool

They day no one can stay at home

The hottest day of the year

Your standing at the edge

At the edge of the cliff

The rocks and sea are below

Looking down

The wind is blowing

Not to soft

Not to strong

You see some birds in the distance

You stand at the edge getting closer

One wrong move and you’ll slip

You stretch your arms out

Feeling the air

Feeling the sun

Listening to the sea waves crash on the rocks

Seeing a pod of dolphins out in the water

Splashing

Jumping

Playing

Hearing the seagulls chirp

Oh there are so many seagulls

Smelling the pine scented forest behind you

Then it hits you

You’ve been here before

In the trees

On the cliff

In the waves

Then it all comes back to reality

You breath in

You breath out

Your dreams have come to an end

Your woken up by the sun rising

Forgetting

Remembering

Trying

You go back to sleep only to see the darkness

Taking you away
