It Pours

A little rain never hurt anyone.

It's raining today

same as yesterday, the day before that

the day before that?

It seems I've lost track

lost track of a lot of things

wasted time

love lost, love kept

meals eaten or not

people who have come and gone

drinks drank, drunk

words spoken and words written

tears soaking the carpet

battles waged, won and lost

on the inside

on the outside.

Now, after all

claws of loneliness grip my throat

I am asphyxiating

breathing is either a blessing or a curse

I however, am indifferent

indifference does the most damage

makes us forget the rain along with everything else

but

the rain forgets us not

now I think I know why they say:

when it rains

it

pours.
