It'll Get Better

She carries herself through the halls pretending everything is fine. She tells her friends she's okay, tells them life at home is good, tells them she's never felt better. She asks if there's anything she can do for them. She listens. She cares. She gives advice. She uses their problems as excuses to ignore her own. Why, you ask?Why pretend? Why try to bare others pain on top of your own?The answer is simple...If you bury your feelings deep enough, maybe they'll go away.Maybe you'll wake up one day feeling like a carefree child again.Maybe you'll get up with a full night's rest and your insomnia just a distant memory.Maybe you'll meet someone who won't treat you like garbage they can toss away.Maybe you'll feel loved, cherished, and needed.

Maybe all the pain you are feeling now will vanish into the night sky.

A girl can dream, right?

A girl reads about fairy tales like Cinderella and thinks she'll find her Prince Charming, thinks everything will be perfect. The harsh reality is that Prince Charming doesn't exist. No man can be a perfect figure like fairytales lead you to believe.

Everyone has flaws, and not everyone has a happily ever after.

A girl sees a magazine with a model on the cover. She sees the half-naked girl with societies definition of a perfect body. She pokes at her stomach wishing she had what that girl has:her hair,

her eyes,her lips,

her body.

She starves herself in order to become what that girl is.

She adjusts her face to what is socially acceptable.

She becomes the girl she thinks she needs to be not the girl she really is.

They think she's happy because she paints a smile on her makeup littered face.

She tells everyone about the great night sleep she had, how refreshed she feels this morning, when really only she and God on high knows that she cried last night until she had no tears left.

She wants to eat pizza, wants to wear sweatpants, wants to wipe off the makeup, wants to show the world who she really is, but she doesn't dare face society as someone less than perfect.

She didn't sleep last night, but no one can tell because the bags under her eyes are concealed.

She cried until her eyelids were puffy, but no one notices.

No one can see the pain she is feeling because she only lets it out when she's alone.

She’s alone, scared, and stressed beyond belief.

She can’t see past the tears clouding her vision.

She wants it all to go away.

She wants to sleep, to dream, to live, and to love herself.

All she has to do is hold on and push through.

It’ll get better; just hold on.

She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.

It’ll get better.
