valley of the shadow of death by nd1razor
It crawls out of the darkness and gazes at you with its dead white eyes.
It licks its lips and grins at you with razor-sharp teeth.
It sneaks up on you when you're content with yourself.
It cackles at you when dream and make plans,
stealing your hope from you and putting you in your place.
It opens up a portal of despair that sucks you of your ambition.
It'll suck the soul of your mortal shell and bury your happiness in a shallow grave.
It cackles at you and winks again.
Your tears flow because no matter how much you want to admit, you know what stalks you.
It is the thing that will kill you.
