It Can Wait

A Dialogue in Awareness

I want to feel my soul again.

It can wait, it can wait.

I want to be happy and whole again.

It can wait, it can wait.

I want to breathe for something great.

It can wait. It can wait.

I want to conquer my fear and hate.

It can wait. It can wait.

Who for I ask, what for I ask,

Why do you so make me wait?

What must I do, who must I become so I too can break that gate?

I've waited long and endured my liege, with no such end in sight.

I've waited and waited and waited through seasons yet still devoid of light.

To ascend beyond such questions asked, where I can feel allowed,

To grow to cherish the love I possess rather than suffocate her sound.

Why must I wait to become what is me, the one gift so tossed around?

Identity in a crowded sea where lost ideals shroud,

Our humanity that bleeds unique, free of all mental bounds,

Why wait to see or feel

the oneness, that permeates our ground?

"You must wait," he says, "to show yourself simply out of fear,"

"A fear you've created for yourself which I now use to clear,

You of any misguided notions that you were ever free.

Of me, your ego, the mind that rules, your life, your destiny.

You can try to escape from me, you can run deep and hide.

But I'll just find you once again and keep feeding off your hyde.

For that is how I know to grow, through you I will survive.

I will shout, command and condemn your soul,

so wait until you die."

I refuse!

You refuse?

I refuse to succumb!

Then I will lash out and attack!

And I will resist in silence strong,

Til I have you on your back,

And give up the power you think you wield, yielding to your master,

The soul, the link, the tunnel to I, the one that rids you faster,

Than you can say, "I am your mind, I govern whatever you do,"

For you no longer can confuse yourself with who I am...you tool.

I use you not the other way 'round, I know why you are.

But I have lost my power of late and you have taken charge,

Yet I will find my way to peace, breaking this auto-pilot mode,

And be all I can be my friend, before I go back to my abode.

Don't wait...
