Intrusive Thoughts

Where's the Payoff?

You’re always everyone’s “shoulder to cry on,”

When it’s your turn to cry, why are you all alone?

Arms a secure place for all to run to,

But when you’re completely hopeless, you’re the one without a home.

They tell you all their problems, and you try your best to help,

When it’s finally your turn to talk, it’s like nobody can hear,

You’re their hand to hold, leading them when they can't see,

But when you’re the one who's in the dark, why is nobody near

You're always lifting all of them up, always the one who’s strong,

But when you feel weak and you feel wobbly, they just let you fall,

You have to take their shit, you take all their burdens on,

But when your own weight’s too much to carry, no one helps at all

You’re always on the sidelines, ready to just jump in,

But when you’re in trouble and need backup, there’s no one standing there

Just some thoughts that everyone has sometimes. You love helping others and being there for them. But, when the world is crashing down on you, sometimes you can't help but question "Where is everyone?", "Why is no one helping me?" You question why it feels like you do everything for other people and get nothing in return. We all feel this way sometimes, and there's no harm. The important part to remember is to always help those when you can. Expect nothing back, and love just to love.
