Intoxicated by My Love for You

The Unconditional Love from Mother to Child

Will you remember all the nights that I tucked you in?

Tickles on your back and kisses on your chin?

Sharing stories of life, that a book can’t tell

Held your little hand and breathed your sweet smell

Intoxicated by my love for you

This is a love that I never knew

Unconditional… is my love for you

The only time that my love’s been true…you

You… make me smile

Feel things, I haven’t felt in a while

Never knew a love, not to fade

Starts out gold, and turns to jade… ed

But it’s different now

The only love that’s worth a vow

You’re perfect in every way,

Will you remember the hours that we use to play?

The bubble baths, and nature walks

Your first masterpiece made with sidewalk chalk

The days are long, and the years are short

Take me back to the nights in the homemade fort

Where laughter was loud and secrets were told

Inside the sheet walls, we made memories of gold

Intoxicated by my love for you

This is a love that I never knew

Unconditional… is my love for you

The only time that my love’s been true…you

Now they are just flashes in my mind

I would give anything to press rewind

The nights you fell asleep on my chest

As your mom, I've been very blessed

If I could keep you little, I would

Hold you in my arms forever, if I could

But I will settle for watching you grow

I'll have front row seats to the greatest show
