Inspiration

A Poem for When You're Down

How could I stand to lie upon the earth

And never seek potentials within

For the soul holds so much more

Than based nature that hungers for war

And survives despite adversity

In darkest depths of hatred and cruelty

But there is always a light

A light of the soul, I can only imagine

Yet it is more real than any life

That my feckless mind could care to live

When the music of the whole of being

Finds a mind to inspire and fill

Full of thoughts and memories not their own

But of a greater plane, without what is known

There is a potential there

No harsh word or action that befalls those

Who can see, if but for a moment

Or in such a small capacity

This beautiful inspiration of the heart

They will not be brought low

For they are the blessed ones

And the divine music that plays out reality

Takes for its own no metre, and no time

But has a rhythm of its own

So we dance, around and around it

An epicenter that draws us in to its glow

Perplexed as I may be with my life

I know of a life, a better life

Because I have seen it in that rhythm

And I have danced in the light of heaven

That is what I call inspiration

And I will never let go of that beauty

I espied from so far away

For it was mine, now and then and timeless

All of me is within that which is

For there is nothing more I would want

But to live without cursed darkness and doubt

And bask once more in the light

I yieldest not, lest I lose the love of that knowledge

And that immortal illumination

That has saved me in my darkest hour

Even from the rabid cravings of the self
