The Blessed and the Broken

she was like the sun, bursting in radiance through the ominous clouds

his ambience was something i’ve never felt before. it was like my feet feeling the grass after morning dew; surprising and uncomfortable.

his words vicious and full of verbiage, interruptions felt like slicing ice; she couldn’t get through to him.

subtle mention of struggle, the sensation and taste she had gathered and he’s only two feet away from her.

his trust: dismantled, hurting him was like stepping on a rose: more scars would began to appear on the surface.

he’s seen the world for all it offered him: nothing. he has screamed and cried from the cracks and cervices in his pillows that seem to be a boundless void to pinnacles of the new york buildings.

the immense pressure to converse with him began to weigh down heavy on her heart. he needs help, her inner being screams.

the what if’s began to cry and plead for her not to do it.

he was beautiful, his silky, olive colored skin matched his effortless tone and demeanor.

the outer appearance of his beauty cloaked his cracked interior.

usually imperfections shapes someone’s beauty, but his imperfections hurt his vanity.

he’s hurting, with no one to turn to. family is chaotic, mom just had her third kid while waiting for dad to stop having an affair even every young, buoyant intern that comes strutting in. fights bellow through the apartment like a vinyl on a loudspeaker; the loop, the song never silenced.

what if he despises her. what if there is nothing wrong with him. the wise words from her grandmother appeared in blazoned lettering: INTUITION IS NOT SUPERSTITION

he was like a berry; the moment she indulged in him she is taking the risk of him being completely adherent or understandably complicit

so she took the risk.
