Innocence

Sad Poem

Angelic face and deep-set sad eyes

She looks out the window of the basement

She wants her freedom

She has been taken away from her family

She holds onto the teddy bear she was sleeping with

She snuggles up to the only friend she has

She is so cold and has not eaten much in a few days

They don't feed her much and they don't let her play

She just has to sit on the bed quietly until help comes

She sheds a few tears as she covers up with the tattered blanket

The pillow they provided is very dull and flat

Outside the window, the rain has stopped

She looks and sees a rainbow forming as the sun is coming out

That means there is always something good even in the worst of storms

She knows that help is coming soon, she can feel it

She knows soon she will be free and be returned home

She knows she must stay strong and hold on

She knows she is small, but she can make it

She may be an innocent little girl

But she is not going to be a hopeless victim anymore.
