In Time

A poem about love transcending a single lifetime and the struggle to be open to something greater than yourself.

Photo Credit Chiara Bautista  I imagine it is depicting lovers from outside of time itself and while they are reunited outside of the earthly realm, she is sending little "stars" as memories planted so their current incarnations on earth will remember.

Time has elapsed

seemingly forever

a short while is all that's documented

Who are you?

Have I known you before?

those eyes

when I met you, distant

I saw deep inside

hiding away from the world

a bright star

Wanting to be released

from the internal prison

Who are you?

a familiarity

have I known you forever?

Past lives? Reincarnate

does it mean anything

or a straw to grasp

a reason to create

something to hold onto

to explain this craziness

that exists without explanation

cautious, hesitant

needing to know more

I kept coming back

against all logic and reason

unattainable, yet I would fight

no longer willing to ignore

drawn to you

that is where I will stay

if you'd have me

your hand I would take

down this path of uncertainty

this dark road filled with obstacles

creeps closer and closer to snuff out all light

I meet you there

lantern in hand

I will not give up

the journey may be the end

it may be the death of us

in death you are mine

lyrics to a song

simple yet serene

I knew you before

I held you close then

but you couldn't stay

and now in this new life

I have been led to you

able to touch, to feel

the most angelic skin

soft, intoxicating

and this time

you are mine

and I am yours

no matter how long it takes

this life will not be the one

where I give it up

I lost it once

an identity was forgotten

this time understanding I have

there is no denying

and no use trying

no running this time

consequences accepted

doused with fear

in time

everything will unfold

in time

all stories will be told

in time

knowing what is wanted

and maybe one day

in time
