If Only
This is a poem about dreams that I wrote during a long distance relationship with a man who can’t dream.
If only I could dream a dream
I know that it would be
The most amazing dream ever dreamt
Because of who I’d see.
I know that I would dream of you
It would be a mere reflection
Of all these feelings I have for you—
These feelings of perfection.
Since I mainly dream these crazy dreams
I know will never come true,
I want to dream crazy things that mean—
That show- how much I love you.
And in these crazy dreams I’ve dreamed
Trust me, you will find
The awesome senseless thoughts of love
That twirl within my mind.
Even though you can’t dream a crazy, senseless dream
I know that it’s alright
Because of what you write to me
And say “sweet dreams” every night.

Midnight
60 seconds… 59 seconds… Time was slipping through his fingers, though he clawed at the falling grains of sand, he could not stop the hourglass from flowing. Around him, the silence was deafening. He had taken over every screen in the command centre, putting the terrible seconds before the terrified eyes of his friends and comrades.
