If Anxiety Was a Poem

A Poem

I kinda don't think it's normal that it takes me 45 mins of just sitting and thinking before I can leave the coffee shop.

I kinda don't think it's normal that I relate to every sad song I hear like I've lived it.

I kinda don't think it's normal that I get proud of myself for just talking to other people, just living their lives, like me.

I kinda don't think it's normal that it takes me 3 hours of "prep" to leave the house and mentally prepare.

I kinda don't think it's normal that I'm only completely honest when I've had a drink and at the same time I genuinely believe I'm honest when I'm sober too.

I kinda don't think it's normal that I'm wondering what a stranger thinks of my face, rather than actually listening to what they're saying to me.

I kinda don't think it's normal that I take comfort in knowing everyone is battling anxiety as much as me. And it must actually be pretty normal.
