I Watched a Leaf Fall

I watched a leaf fall off the tree

and flutter to the ground.

Its scarlet color slightly stained

with little spots of brown.

I watched a leaf fall on the dirt,

and thought it was like me.

Because it looked the prettiest,

all alone you see.

I watched a leaf fall through the air,

It swayed along the way.

I looked around and wondered,

how many more would fall today.

I wonder do they fall together

for love of company?

Or do they try to scatter

in the cool October breeze.

I watched a leaf fall,

and caught it in my hand.

It looked so thin and frail,

but it didn't make me sad.

I watched a leaf fall and kiss the ground.

It went silently and slow.

It wont be long before the leaf

is blanketed with snow.
