I Still Love You

A Poem

How terrible is it that we were each other's only idea of love,

that once we got a taste of the sweetness of each other's lips, our love became an obsession,

not a want but a need,

and our need scared us so much that we tore into each other's souls to make sure there would always be a spot for us,

digging for a place we could implant a forever,

frantic,

we tore and tore and tore,

clawing deeper into each other until we ravaged everything away,

until there was nothing left to latch onto,

until we both withered away to nothingness,

until there was nothing we could do expect watch from a distance the destruction we made of each other.
