I Said No

i wasn't broken

like a twig he stepped on

like a bottle top he forced

it's just that when you're

bent

bent

bent

until you stop refusing

until you stay silent

somehow your silence

becomes acquiescence

and you just count the cracks

in the ceiling

and slowly forget

that you ever had the right

to the word

no
