I Remember

(The High Road)

dreaming world

tackle me and kiss my hair

it's been years

you thought i wouldn't remember

shouting at each other

a fascination with wednesdays

centripetal force

you say that my voice

hasn't changed

much and my heart hasn't changed

either

i took the high road

and you walked the valley

of the shadow of death

the things i have seen

do not stack up with yours

but show me anyway

show me

let me softly dream of the places

you have called home

the things and hands your hands have held

and hope that you will come back

and hold me someday

real world

your hair is longer than mine

it's been years

you think i would not remember

but i do

i remember when i wrote that song

for you and the way my lips still form

the words today

my voice hasn't changed and nor

have the words

real world

your hair is longer than mine

it's been years

you think i would not remember

but i do

i remember when i wrote that song

for you and the way my lips still form

the words today

my voice hasn't changed

and nor has my heart
