I'm NOT Who You Think I Am

Forget labels.

I am NOT who you think I am.

I'm not a nerd.

I'm not a geek.

I'm not a magician.

I'm not an actor.

I'm certainly not an athlete.

I do like nerdy things,

I do like geeky things,

I do enjoy magic,

I do act,

I don't really do anything athletic,

But nobody truly knows ME.

All the intricacies,

All the complexities,

All the delicacies

Of who I am

Are never truly explored.

And never will be truly explored.

People can't do that.

The intricacies,

The complexities,

The delicacies,

Are so damn complicated

That even Stephen Hawking

Would be truly gawking

At who I truly am.

So people take what they see,

What they hear,

And what they feel,

To "evaluate" who I am,

By using these boxes

Wrapped with their own experiences,

And desires,

To place me where they see fit.

They do it to everyone.

We do it to everyone.

"He's such a nerd."

"She's such a jock."

"They're such a drama queen."

We're all guilty of this crime

That carries no sentence

Because it is simply human nature.

This is the world we live in.

As criminal as it is,

We do it every day.

Just for our own damn sanity.

I am NOT who you think I am,

And neither are you.
