“I’m here for you”

It was those four words that meant more to her than anything else in the entire world.

She’d become so lost in her fury at the world around her.

She'd become so crushed by her anger and despair that she had lost sight of who she really was. She would dwell in her despair every day and every night, and soon, she fell in to a spiralling depression from which she didn’t know how to escape.

She hated the government that ruled down on her.

She hated the education system that funnelled her to conformation.

She hated the media-constructed narratives that she had lost all faith in.

She hated the complacency and ignorance of those who simply turned their heads the other way.

She hated the greed of those in power.

Soon, she began to hate everything. And before she knew it, she had forgotten how to love.

“I’m here for you”

It took the compassion of someone who loved her, for her to finally realise that she wasn’t alone.

She realised that she had to stop focusing on the bigger picture that was consuming her.

She realised that life is about taking the small steps, and if we all take one little step at a time; the impact could be astronomical.

In time, she healed, in her own way.

She campaigned. She published her feelings. She gave what she could to the homeless. She told her story to those who wanted to hear it.

And then, suddenly, a fire ignited inside of her.

She felt alive again.

She had rekindled with her happiness.

It was some years later when she was walking through her home town and noticed a girl, sitting alone in an aura of despondency.

She was looking directly in the mirror at her past self.

She approached the girl, equipped with her knowledge, and said, “Excuse me, are you okay?”

The girl stared at the ground, shook her head and fought back tears.

She smiled. She'd been there before and she'd seen the light after the storm.

“Don’t cry.” She said.

“I’m here for you.”
