I Like to Take Pictures

A poem about someone I don't remember.

1960's Cannon Camera Photo by Allie Marler

I like to take pictures.

I like to take pictures, it feels as if I'm having morning coffee with you.

Through the sound of the shutter of my camera I can hear your voice; whispering unfathomable sweetness, filling my head with such wonderful nonsense,

slowly pouring creamer into black coffee, the light eliminating the dark, sweetness banishing the bitterness.

I like to take pictures, to you I am as invisible to you as the oxygen that fills the lungs in our chests.

Like the sunset that ends our day, and begins our nights, though I am forever shrouded in the shadows and mystery of the photo's content.

I like to take pictures because I feel more beautiful behind the lens of my Canon camera, than I ever did facing you.

You are the embodiment of a perfect morning, a perfect day.

You are the sunrise, the sunset, that wraps this world in a blanket of light and beauty, you begin and end my day with light,

You are the exception to the pain of being in the shadows, yet you will never see me as I see you.

I like to take pictures.
