I Just Wanted to Tell You That...
A Poem

…there wasn’t a single trace of you around
this morning
though the door was left ajar
and a few petals from the blossoming cherry tree
had fallen in the garden
over trampled grass
my book was open on the same page
half sipped wine set on the porch
gypsy music still filled the air
the candle was burning into sweet inviting fumes
like always
and my slippers were facing the wrong way
I wondered
whether you might have found a shortcut to get to me
or whether the road has taken you elsewhere altogether…
if so,
do you like it there?
