I Dare You

A Poem Written Long Ago

The Sun will Set to make way for the Moon

I dare you to fight,

With no more than your eyes,

It's what you're good at, right?

I want the truth, no lies.

I dare you to speak,

And tell me I'm in trouble,

I won't bow down or be meek,

I'm not trapped in that bubble.

I dare you to be brave,

And face me “like a man,”

See how much time you could save,

(As for that I have a plan.)

I dare you to have pride,

And know your own self-worth,

Be proud, walk, easy stride,

Lord knows, time’s limited on earth.

I dare you to believe,

And say what is right and wrong,

I know you're not that naive,

Show me that you're strong.

I dare you to be fierce,

And shout at me with your might,

Your words would really pierce,

But I won't backing away in fright.

I dare you to tell me you hate,

And don't give a shit about education,

If so, then be bold and stand up straight,

Let's see you have a transformation.

I dare you to scream,

And shout 'till your throat is coarse,

Nothing will come off as extreme,

So tell me everything with force.

I dare you to talk behind my back,

And start speculating on things that aren't yours,

The things spoken won't be part of your attack,

So go ahead, call myself and my friends "whores."

I dare you to take action,

And face me with the things you call "right,"

Alleviate my distraction,

And walk to the middle of my sight.

I dare you to tell me I'm worthless,

And of that I have no doubt,

I'm telling you, I am sometimes mirthless,

But I will not scream or shout.

I dare you to show me pity,

To patronize and agonize,

You want me to be your kitty?

Time to revolutionize.

I dare you to show me how good you can act,

And slap me in the face with it,

I won't deal with drama, that is a fact,

Yet I won't diminish or spit.

I dare you to tell me that I started this mess,

After all, I was the one being "cold" and "indifferent,"

For my own history, I could not care less,

Don't start raising things that are irrelevant.

I dare you to tell me you "know" me,

And ask me "so is that it?!",

I don't mean the person you want to see,

To trouble, I do not commit.

I dare you to speculate on my past,

And the enemies and friends I had then,

Say what you want, you won't leave me aghast,

All I know is that I am not their hen.

Either way it does not matter,

For now, I won't even think,

My mind is not going to shatter,

And for, you I will not sink.
