I Can’t Lose You

This poem is about my friend Dave. He was in the hospital in a coma at the time this was written.

I can't do this.

I can't lose you.

As selfish as that may sound, I need you.

We all need you.

I parked three blocks from the hospital to try and get some fresh spring air in my lungs.

I made it two blocks before I started crying again.

I feel like I was punched in the heart.

This is unreal.

I am talking to my dear friend as he lays in a hospital bed unresponsive in a coma.

I hope he can hear everyone talking to him and how much we all care.

How much his cats and everyone need him.

What an amazing person he is and how much love we all have for him.

He has the most amazing mind of anyone I have ever known.

He is well read, intelligence and I can talk to him for hours and never be bored.

He understands the deeper meaning behind things.

He always listens to anything I have to say.

He keeps alive the lost art of storytelling.

The art of interacting with others brain's and not just their bodies.

I am not giving up hope.

Dave is a fighter.

He has overcome many obstacles in this lifetime.

He survived a car crash many moons ago that shattered his kneecap.

His teeth went through his bottom lip.

He has the scar to prove it.

All I can do is send him positive vibes.

Touch his arm and let him know I am there.

The tears won't stop.

They come in rivers.

Life is precious.

Cherish each moment you have with those who matter the most to you.

Don't be afraid to tell friends how much you love them and the difference they make in your life.
