I Cannot Fight

I just cannot fight.

Blood

Dripping blood

The smell of it wafts through the air

The bodies lie bare

Of spirit and life

And among the living there is still fighting

Never ending strife

Blood

Dripping blood

From fists of hate and anger

Over nothing

We have no reason

And apparently we need no reason

Reason and rationality left when the first drop was spilled

When out of anger one another we killed

We left behind the common decency shown to fellow man

And instead chose to pin each against the other hand-to-hand

Blood

Dripping blood

What justice is this?

Who gave the right?

I cannot fight

I just cannot fight

Why do we chose to take a life

Over something that means nothing?

Would we slit a throat with a knife

Because in a bet there was some bluffing?

We may cheat and we may lie

So in the end it’s time to die?

Why?

I just can’t fathom why

So I cannot fight
