I Can't Put You Down

A Poem for Lovers and Decision Makers

I was told by many

That you’re the carrier of the current apathy

And so I was sent here

By an existential force

To cut you off from spreading your own problems onto my time

So therefore, it’s time for you to go.

But now that I’m here

I see how sweet you can be

You’re so sweet, you’re mind-fucking me

Goddamn, if you ain’t so sweet that you make salt taste just like sugar.

Sweet and sour

I can’t devour even if it seduces me

I will never let something use me or abuse me

And in turn, I will never take advantage of it or fuck it up in any shape, form, or fashion.

But after listening to that existential voice in my head

I’ve gained a new perspective, a new viewpoint

And now, with all the tainted thoughts erased from my cerebrum

I have a moment of clarity.

But my moment of clarity will not be blurred by your stupidity

Just because you want me to put her down, but I can’t because

I’m attracted to her and I’ve fallen in love with her

To you, she's a cunt, but if you talk to her,

You’ll find out what the fuck is going on in her head

Then, maybe you’ll see that she doesn’t want you dead!
