Living in Domestic Violence

If I could have a looking glass.

I can't believe that I was a witness to my own pain

I can't believe that I would think that I could gain

I can't believe that I thought I could stand your rain

I can't believe that I stayed in your rain

If I could have a looking glass, then I might have seen

If I could have had a crystal ball, to see what I would be

If I could have seen a shooting star

Then I might have seen what you really are

I can't believe I stayed in your rain

I can't believe that loving you was such damage to my heart

I can't believe I wasn't worthy of a new start

I can't believe I didn't see me in such pain

I can't believe I stayed in your rain

If I could have had a looking glass, then I might have seen

If I could have had a crystal ball, to see what I would be

If I could have seen a shooting star

Then I might have seen what you really are

I can't believe I stayed in your rain

Dedication

To all the women who have lived in abuse and finally removed themselves from it. And, to all the women who have died trying.

Dedicated also to all the women who have not yet made it that far.

Domestic violence is a fighting battle that takes an inner courage and an acceptance of one's self to overcome.

If you are in a situation of domestic violence, you have to face the facts that will either save your life and the lives of your children, or will be the fate of you and your children. There are hotlines available to call and to seek immediate help.
