I Bought the Ticket

Life's decisions are our own...

Every day you live your life

Don't forget to turn the page

Let the wings fly

Every day sew the strife

Don't forget to ask the sage

Let the tears cry

But all in all it's just another burning

Another loss of mortality

The forever sliding obituary

Of life's desire to live

Looking back it seems like yesterday

couldn't be further away

than the legends under the sun

the legends on the wind

I left to find my stride

but she never returned

neither steps by my side

and it seems like years since she's been here

but it'll be alright

I'll bide my time

the torment she renders

with vivid splendor

beneath the neon sky

and I swear to you

that if I ever find her

I'll remeber to never

let her slide on down the line

the simple lesson

never harder learned

never filled my loving home

like the memory I keep of you

standing in the mirror

mirror on the wall

who's the saddest of them all

but I can' t complain

I bought the ticket

a one way round trip ticket to nowhere

a empty space on the mend

dripping a little sunshine

on my rainy days

the greyer we become

my only friend

and she's dancing once again

through the halls of my childhood memory

grower dimmer by the year

and colder by the day

the day my muse

she died

but I can't complain

I bought the ticket

to a one way remnant

of a lonely life

I can't complain

I bought the ticket

to the ball the devil's dance

the solstice of loss

the bittersweet progress

of a burdensome cross

and this will be the day

the day I return

to reclaim my place

in that lockstep pace

the cursed dance

the white picket fence

to light the wick and fan the flames

to cross the eyes of memories names

the tickets in hand and return once again

purpetually late and forever cold

six feet below the ground you sold

the empty well of the familial hold

but I can't complain I bought the ticket

but I can't complain I bought the ticket
