I Am The Mighty Dollar

Will Man Ever Get It?

I come in many forms, of course. Pardon my wide grin but my master tells me that I'm the cream of his crop when it comes to deals with dwellers at the top. I am the perfect tool that'll never rust or be shucked aside because I am trust, ever-changing, rearranging, yet to be defeated, thanks for the applause — you may be seated.

I deserve pats on the back for I have out-lasted many systems while supporting their cracks. 'Brother Gun' cannot even shoot for the stars I own and we've been neck and neck since the inception, inclination, and imagination of brute force. If he can boast that he doesn't kill people, then, so can I. I am neither good nor bad. I didn't create coach, first, second, third class – ghettos and country clubs. Throughout history, think of all the lives that might've been spared from shipwrecks to sweatshops, if there was enough of me to go around. I didn't decide whether this patient gets prime healthcare while that one gets a patch up and sent on his wobbly way. I am not the root of all that is evil, okay.

I bash color barriers, for my color is universal.

I am the fur wrap of status.

I am patriotism.

I am law.

The mere mention of my being, in any context, breeds a salivary, euphoric passion that trumps the most humane of hearts carrying their great gestures. Such secret highs would be to their chagrin, those pious philanthropists.

I may be the subject and the difference between election and process of selection.

I may be the baby of war and peace.

I may be the one who is tickling nostrils opened to false confections, turning heads up and away from the silent rattlesnake at their heels. But most important of all, I am my master's prized weapon, undefeated and unsheathed.

To exist without me… perhaps is to be God.
