I Am Autistic, Not Dumb...

A Poem About Being Autistic

I am autistic.

Autistic, not dumb, just broken.

Broken on the inside, not on the outside.

Outside is terrifying me.

The world is loud.

Loud and not like me.

Me, I am different, but not dumb.

Dumb is not what I will become.

Become my own self. Becoming something good.

Good for this world and for my future girl.

Girl, would you love me even if I am different?

Different from you, but not from your love.

Love is what I want. For us.

Us. The best word that ever existed.

Existed is your presence. Close to me.

Me, I am different, but not dumb.

Just autistic.
