I Am

A Poem

I look upon the ashen fields

Rain falling around

I feel my heart deep inside my chest

Yearning for something more

The thoughts race through my mind

Am I wanted

Am I needed

Am I even worth it

Am I

Am I

Am I

The distant bird chirps

The rain gently sweeps the field

Am I

The rain is my sadness

And oh how it pours

A moment passes

Am I

Two words but the heaviest meaning

A moment where life

And death waits

Am I

Death waiting for me

Life waiting for me

So stuck

So caught

Am I

Am I

Am I

Screaming out

No one hears

Am I

But I am

I am wanted

I am needed

I am so worth it

Two words

The same as before

But the greatest meaning

I am

I am

I am

The bird still sings

The rain still pours

But I am here

Death must wait

Life is mine

United for a moment

But stopped by

The same two words

I am

I am

I am

Here I stand

Here I stay

Ready and willing

To take life in my own hands

Make a start

Struggle

Love

Hug

Cry

All the things I must do

To make death wait

I am

I am

I am

I am unstoppable
