I Am

A Poem

I am the voice of a generation

I am the glue that will put together the nations

I am the hand that uses the pen to write

I am the fist that will always be ready to fight

I am Langston Hughes

A writer of the African American voices

Telling the world that I will no longer be silenced

I am Maya Angelou

Once a caged bird

Until I broke free and spread the word

I am NOT a slave

Pleasing a human master

I am a Child of God

Let his message be put on speaker

I am NOT fake

Showing full of euphemism

I am truth seeker

Breaking out of the prison

I am NOT a weed

A root that is dying

I am the branches on the tree

That will always keep living

I am a minority

Waiting for my time

But my time is now

It’s time for me to shine

I am BEAUTIFUL

I am LOVED

I am BLESSED

I am BLACK

I am GOD’S CHILD

I am FEMALE

I am MINORITY

I am RISING

I am NEVER DYING
