Hypocrites

It was happy until it wasn't—

Then, it was sad.

It was extraordinary until it wasn't—

Then, it was just routine.

It was something until it wasn't—

Then, it was nothing,

reallynothing.

In a way or two,

I kind of hoped that life would be more,

But it isn't.

Not until you make it such.

The news was unbiased until it wasn't—

Now, it's a bunch of hypocrites giving their opinions in the form of fact.

Now, it's a bunch of hypocrites trying to tell us how to feel and the "right way" to care for other people.

Now, it's a bunch of hypocrites trying to turn us against each other, teaching us their radical views as if it is fact.

The opinions were respected until they weren't—

Now, there's all these hypocrites trying to make the other side look bad in whatever ways they can.

Now, there's all these hypocrites that tell the people that they're in it for them, but it's really all for the power.

Now, there's all these hypocrites mudslinging one another, claiming some sort of respect for the other.

The politics wasn't as important as the good of the people, until it was

Now, the people have become hypocrites, with this "respect" for the other side.

Now, the people have become hypocrites and labeled themselves as their party instead of their nationality.

Now, the people have become hypocrites and stereotyped each side as "heartless," "homophobic," "dumb," and more.

This is no commentary on one side

But to all.

Just hear me out on this one:

Say what you mean, do what you say you will,

Admit when you're wrong and maybe,

Just maybe

We won't sound like a bunch of blabbering idiots

Trying to act like their shit's together

When it's not.

Life is what you make it, and this country–

This country is what we make it.
