This here is not for beauty
This here is not for perfection
Hummingbird, don't sing
Your melodies are unwelcome in
The midst of this raucous cacophony
Hummingbird, don't sing
Ugliness is our preferred look here
Hummingbird, if you sing
I'll wring your neck and
Display your carcass to the other birds
Hummingbird, if you sing
I'll rip out your delicate throat
So you'll have nothing to chirp or chant with
Hummingbird, don't sing
Hummingbird, don't chirp
Hummingbird, don't trill
Hummingbird, I warn you now
Hummingbird, I warn you again

About the Creator
Olawale Lawal
Words give me life and there's no other form of perfection that comes close to painting exact and vivid pictures with words.
That's what I try to do each and every time I pen down poetry.
