Human Sacrifice

A poem about what I would do for you

Human sacrifice

is a subject in which I have

very little knowledge

what I can gather, in some tribes and cultures

a sacrifice is needed to please

a higher power

a god

and this I know because of

exposure from media

But from this, I have learned that the soul

is a meal and is always ready to feed

what it believes in

I’ve never been one to

understand how someone

can be so unselfish and trade their life for

something they stand for

Until I met you

Allow me to be the human sacrifice

you need to bring your happiness back

Slit my throat so I can bleed

all over your insecurities

and paint them a different color

If my body is what is needed

to see you smile again

then allow me to jump

into the volcano like it is

the first day of summer

burn my hair and use the flame

to keep you warm

cook my flesh and

feed it to the demons

who keep you up at night

Let me be the vessel

that will take you to

your peace take my

soul and use it as a

one way ticket

to your sanctuary

You are my new religion

so I happily give you my husk

release my spirit so it can

walk hand and hand with

your rebirth

This is not something that

I do lightly not everyone

will see my eagerness

to make them happy

the happier you are the

faster the offspring of our past

dies and that is what I need to be liberated

I would move mountains

align the planets

changes the tides

whatever it took to

see your smile one last

time so that I may understand

what it looks like without me in it

this will allow me to find mine too

You are so much bigger

than you believe my

breathing deity let

me be your human sacrifice

so that you may realize it
