How They Talk About You

A Poem

She's trapped inside, gasping for air.

I tried to reach beneath the surface to save her,

but she turned away at the sight of my hand.

Misery loves company when we're all sad here.

Give me more love to end this bad year.

Hold on tight to your crosses and look at the sky,

heaven just waits for us all to die.

A kiss from a black bird sent me falling through the trees

where I was blinded by the sun

on my search for the hidden truths

that are at the bottom of my soul.

And I still hear her screaming,

I can tell she's in pain

But why do we lock ourselves up

right when we need to escape?
