How Still We Sway

#VocalNPM

Step by step and steps upon steps,

we walk these streets on a night

which shares a likeness to a midnight

summer stroll,

cool air caress,

cool air swish by on my skin,

I love the way it touches me like the way

my lover cradles and pets me like their

baby.

Sticky sweat, chilled hair, a warm meal,

legs not in a race.

Step, step, step, stop.

Your home feels like home.

I know how to move and maneuver

without hitting the walls and feeling

trapped.

I know how to slide into the couch and fit

my arms in you.

I know the rhythm of your body and you

know mine.

Even though the earth is moving, we don’t

feel it because we’re moving too.
