It's funny how forever

Only lasts so long,

And then that "never"

Doesn't feel so wrong.

The promises you once made,

Start to slip your mind

Until away they fade

And you are no longer confined

To that one person or thing.

Even though you feel alone

And the pain will sting

Now you may freely roam,

To do whatever you please

And like me that may be

Dropping to your knees

Looking for the same old key,

Wishing to open a closed door,

Or be alone,

Forevermore.
