Hopeless Dreams

Poem

Because love can leave you utterly hopeless. (Photo by Henry Be on Unsplash)

I can sit here and cry to you my story.

I can stand in front of you and whisper to you my dreams.

Whether or not you'll listen is the question?

They say I can't save everyone, but it's not them I'm saving.

I'll protect those I love so much, but who protects me?

I'll pray for those who need it, even pray for their forgiveness.

Once again to ask who's praying for me?

Every day's a constant battle; to awake, to get up, and to be active.

All this in hopes of less stress, less anger, and just rest.

But those damn pesky demons, only feed the mind with thoughts of self torture.

New change will arise, oh will it arise.

For the sun will shine bright, the flowers will bloom, and birds will chirp

Only this time you'll listen, and you'll cry with me.

For my new change will bring me success and joy.

Then you'll be in my shoes, wondering where I am when you need me the most.

And then I'll pray that you're facing the constant battles I once faced.

You'll be hoping for those pesky demons to stay quiet.

But until then I'll keep doing what I'm doing, and dream big.

While you sit there thinking... you'll always have me.
