HOPE

A four letter word

H.O.P.E Hope

Oh how I hoped that she was not on her knees,

kneeling at every alter,

praying to every corner,

I believed God had left us along time ago,

and my faith started to dim.

Yet, she said hope everyday and I hated it.

Whenever it would appear,

She would start chanting hope, hope, hope

As if she was trying to convince me,

Trying to convince it to leave,

And I despised the word,

Because it brought more pain.

She would cry with the words,

Trembling out of her mouth,

And I could not do anything.

They wanted us to quit many times,

But she kept saying the same word,

Over and over again.

However, the darkness was taking jabs at me,

After one surgery came another than another.

It kept coming,

Hurling itself at me every second,

As if it was a shadow trying to reach me.

The tears never stopped, night and day,

And I was sure as the earth goes around the sun,

The word was written on her face,

If it was not coming out of her mouth.

Hope.

Yet, she kept going,

Even when her hands were shaking,

And her eyes were puffy.

However, one day the blow came hard,

And she started giving up.

Hope, I hated that word.

Yet, I'm going to fight for her,

Because this is not the end this is the beginning.

She will be fine,

Because I believe in her,

She will be strong,

Because she has people pushing her,

She has me pushing her,

leading her to victory.

And also because I have hope on my side.

So I started chanting Hope, hope, hope

She never looked down,

She doesn't want to let people down.

I want to continue to fight

Because this is her new beginning,

Becausd the darkness is fading ,

She will survive.

Because she did not name me Hope for nothing.
